Lifetime Eye Care has been providing vision therapy services for patients since 1981. Board certification in vision development and therapy by the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, recognizes the extensive experience we have in providing vision therapy treatment.
What is Vision Therapy?
Vision therapy is an individualized treatment program designed to correct visual-motor and visual information processing deficiencies caused by inadequate sensory motor development, stress or trauma to the nervous system.
What conditions can
Vision Therapy treat?
Lifetime Eye Care provides vision therapy services
for many vision conditions including the following:
Vision therapy typically will include the use of special lenses, prisms, or filters in association with prescribed procedures designed to enhance the brain's ability to control eye alignment, eye movements, focusing ability, and teamwork between the two eyes. High levels of visual-motor efficiency and endurance are developed during carefully directed therapy sessions using special computerized and optical devices. These new vision abilities are generalized through integration with motor and cognitive skills so they can be readily used during everyday activities such as reading, computer work, driving and even sports.
What are the benefits of Vision Therapy?
Through vision therapy, the individual develops the ability to use his or her eyes effectively to gather visual information, understand it quickly, react to it appropriately, and reliably interact with the environment.
Are
the benefits of Vision Therapy long term?
Most healthy vision therapy patients enjoy long
term resolution of their visual problems following completion of treatment. Generalizing
the newly acquired visual abilities to the activities of daily life allows them to become self-reinforcing. Efficient vision becomes a habit, as hard to
break as any other habit.
Is Vision Therapy right for me?
People of all ages can benefit from vision therapy. While vision therapy can be a very effective tool in the treatment of many vision problems, therapy can only be prescribed after a thorough vision and eye health examination and diagnostic testing performed by a qualified Optometric Physician.
